Shortage Occupations

   The following occupations are listed in Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B of the Canadian National Occupation Classification List (NOC) and are applicable to people applying for immigration to Canada on or after 1 July, 2011. Between 1 July, 2011, and 30 June, 2012, a maximum of 10,000 complete Federal Skilled Worker applications will be considered for processing. Within the 10,000 cap, a maximum of 500 Federal Skilled Worker applications per eligible occupation will be considered for processing within this same time frame.

    If you wish to immigrate to Canada as a Federal Skilled Worker, your experience must be within the past ten (10) years in an occupation listed below, and must correspond to the Canadian occupational definition of your listed migration occupation.

   Hence, the importance of correctly documented work experience references to ensure you are awarded experience points (FACTOR 3 points) in your listed occupation.

   You may be eligible to immigrate to Canada under a Federal Skilled Worker Visa if you have at least one year of experience in one or more of the following in-demand occupations:
